1000

I've hit 1,000 plays on my Soundcloud (hooray!) so I'm sharing with you all a mashup I did of Disparate Youth by Santigold and Lies by Marina & the Diamonds a few weeks ago. Hope you enjoy!

Fly

 As I finish up packing for my permanent (or at least temporary for four years...semi-permanent?) move back to the US, I think about the flight ahead of me with loathing at the minimum. However, one of the small joys of flying is when you look down and see something besides clouds--in this case (2 years ago) we flew over eastern China and caught a glimpse of a few coastlines and islands half-sunk in an all-too-blue sea.
Happy travels!

Jack Sparrow'd

Cobblestone lanes are not all that common in Singapore, believe it or not. But when I stumble across them, figuratively and literally in the case where I'm wearing heels such as these, I'm amazed. After a glorious day of shopping on Haji Lane, we made our way up to Duxton Hill for dinner at Broth (highly recommended if you're visiting Singapore and...well...have a pretty loose budget). I bought these pants earlier this day in one of the greatest shops in existence called Soon Lee that I could easily spend the rest of my life in.

Broken

Sad news: my Nikon isn't working at the moment and needs repairing, but that won't happen til I get back to the states. That means no original photos for a while, oops! In the meantime I've found plenty of online stuff to share.

Muse

I absolutely MUST share this with the world, these two stunning leading ladies of off-beat mainstream music have unknowingly collided to create such a beautiful mash-up I stopped everything I was doing to just listen. I suggest you do the same.

Bloom

Ta-da! Round 3 of the flower crown process is complete. I didn't use a headband to make mine but rather safety-pinned the leaves all the way around after measuring my head and it works just as well! Pretty much a summer must whether you're trooping around music festivals or going on picnics or going grocery shopping (turn some heads, yeah?).

Gradual

 Yesterday, I graduated from high school. I attended the Singapore American School for 7 years, which is actually pretty rare in this community. Sitting at the back of the group on stage, as everyone turned around to face the screen behind us, watching the senior video attentively, i glanced forward at all the faces turned towards me and my stomach flipped--I've known these people so long. Not all of them, but some of them I still recognize as their sixth-grade selves. This is not to say that I felt that much of a connection to the group as a whole, and I will admit to thinking I'll miss my teachers more than probably 90% of the class of 2013. However, I think being in the midsts of it all forces the kind of realizations or emotions on you that you wouldn't have otherwise, and that's that I really do care where all of these people wind up and that they do well. Above, I am receiving my diploma from my principal. Below, with my best friend Annika and hugging my dance teacher in the third photo--both of whom mean the world to me.
TTFN Class of '13, and best of luck.

Senior Year In Review

Seeing as I graduate tomorrow, I wanted to take a post to recollect thoughts, images, and memories from my Senior year.

{August}
AP Art Retreat at Telunas, Indonesia with Annika
{September}
Lorraine's Eighteenth Birthday
{October}
My Eighteenth Birthday (with Ryan) and Halloween with Annika, Liam and Claudia
{November}
First Semester Dance Club Show of A Triple Bill: Green, Purple and Blue; Sweet Charity production as Carmen
{January}
Rain dancing in the Botanical Gardens with Alistair
{February}
Interim Semester in China (Ya'an and Chengdu) to work with pandas, Cultural Convention performance in Manila, Philippines with my team on stage and, well, not
{April}
SENIOR PROM! With Annika, Chelsea, Kaitlin, Anthony, Liam, Young Ju, and Jonny
{Lots of dancing in May! For Alistair's blog here and in the Seven show, I finished May with a dislocated knee which sucks but could be worse}

I'm so happy with my overall memories and experiences from this year. My teachers and friends mean the world to me, and mostly my family, which constitutes of the traditional meaning of the word as well as teachers and friends. I'll be back to visit, but most of all, I'm ready, beyond ready, for whatever comes next.

Infinity

The magical, hilarious, and gorgeous Catie got us all passes to the skypark at Marina Bay Sands (yes this place) so we could spend the day in the infinity pool, which was something on my bucket list before I graduate that I actually get to cross off! We had the most perfect weather I've ever seen in Singapore, and 57 stories up it's breezy and essentially humidity-free. Heaven. On. Earth.
